Difference Between Gold Plated Zero Phase Reflector and Silver Plated Zero Phase Reflector

Gold-coated Zero Phase Reflector provides the highest reflectance and highest environmental stability at infrared (IR) wavelengths, 98-99% across the IR spectrum. Gold (Au) coated optics are ideal for applications in the 750 – 1500nm wavelength range (over 12um). We can custom manufacture gold-coated mirrors to meet the reflectivity and environmental stability requirements of specific optical mirror applications.

Zero Phase Reflector

The silver-coated Zero Phase Reflector provides excellent reflectivity of 95-99% even in the far infrared spectrum and over 95% from 450nm to over 12µm. However, silver (Ag)-coated mirrors may be less than ideal for some applications as they may have less than 90% reflectance in the blue and ultraviolet spectral regions. Fortunately, silvered mirrors can be custom manufactured to meet the reflectance and transmittance requirements of your specific optical application, along with a protective coating to help protect the silvered mirror from discoloration.

Zero Phase Reflector is a sheet-like optical reflector whose transmittance (reflectivity) is usually related to wavelength, and the transmittance (reflectivity) of some filters is related to polarization or spatial distribution. The birefringent filter is composed of birefringent crystals and uses the interference effect of polarized light to obtain monochromatic light. It is mainly used for monochromatic light detection of sunlight, etc. It is also an ideal component for tuning, spectral resolution and compression line width.
